A system for perfect health: The Five points of Yoga part (part 1 of 2)

The ancient wisdom of Yoga can be synthesized into five basic principles, which can easily be incorporated into our own lifestyles to provide the foundation for healthy living. It is around these five principles that the activities of the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres are based. In this course we cover 3 of the 5 points as laid out by Swami Vishnudevananda.
Topics covered:
- Physical well being through proper excercise (Asanas)
- The science of yogic breathing
- The Art of relaxation

Daily schedule:
- 6am: Satsang (group meditation, kirtan and mantra chanting, short lecture)
- 8am: Yoga class
- 10am: Brunch (lacto vegetarian / sattvic diet)
- 10:45am: One-hour karma yoga (selfless service)
- Between noon and 3pm: One-hour lecture or asana workshop or silent walk
- 4pm: Yoga class
- 6pm: Dinner (lacto vegetarian / sattvic diet)
- 6:45pm: One-hour karma yoga (if not done in the morning)
- 8pm: Satsang (group meditation, kirtan and mantra chanting, short lecture)
This daily schedule can be subject to occasional changes.
Arrival/Departure:
- Check-in: 2pm-8pm, on first day. First event is 4pm yoga class on arrival day
- Check-out: by 11am, on last day. Last event is the one-hour afternoon lecture on departure day
