Part 1: From sun salutation to forward bend

Course taught in French only, no English translation.

For graduates of the Sivananda Yoga Teachers Training Course or equivalent 200hr Teachers Training Course.

Competent and creative handling of mistakes, limitations, adaptations, and variations in the asanas.

The ancient Hatha Yoga scriptures do not mention the order in which asanas should be practiced or which corrections should be applied. These aspects were likely developed directly through teaching. Swami Vishnudevananda was a brilliant example of this tradition.

The advanced training “Improving Asanas Holistically” was developed during a three-week retreat by senior teachers of the Sivananda Ashrams and Centres:

Explanation of the main reasons behind Swami Vishnudevananda’s teaching methods in asanas and pranayama, along with a clear description of the most important asana corrections.

Focus on asana corrections for typical students’ errors or limitations:

    • Focus on asana corrections that correspond to typical mistakes or limitations of participants.
    • Typical beginner mistakes
Development of appropriate verbal instructions to correct these mistakes, with additional physical adjustments where necessary.
    • Typical limitations of beginners
Observation training to recognize lack of mobility, muscle length, and muscle strength, and how to help students accept these limitations and work with them more effectively.
    • Preparatory variations or exercises
Individual guidance of students according to their specific needs.
    • Progress within the basic posture
Verbal guidance and physical support to improve muscle strength, muscle length, and mobility.
    • Enhancing the basic posture through advanced variations
Development of advanced variations for a deeper experience of the basic posture

With certificate of participation.
