Course taught in French only, no English translation.

This 3-day program is a mix of theory and practice on site, in the garden. The farm will be our backdrop for discussing the themes of agroecology and permaculture. We will be able to participate in seasonal activities. Included:

11 hours of workshops in the farm gardens.

This is an opportunity to experience the rhythm of the Ashram, with a good balance between learning about permaculture and practicing yoga.

Themes Covered:

  • General principles of agroecology and permaculture
  • Soil, the major mechanisms of life
  • Ecosystem services, plant health
  • Design, or the art of organizing interactions in the garden

Practical Activities to include:

  • Farm tour and presentation
  • Preparation and maintenance of gerden beds
  • Sowing in nurseries and direct sowing, transplanting, planting in open ground
  • Weed management, mulching,
  • Compost and soil management, “Effective Microorganisms”
  • Learning technical skills, use of specific tools for small-scale market gardening on living soil
  • Organising a production greenhouse
  • Harvesting

Daily schedule:

  • 6am: Satsang (group meditation, kirtan and mantra chanting, short lecture)
  • 8am: Yoga class
  • 10am: Brunch (lacto vegetarian / sattvic diet)
  • 10:45am: One-hour karma yoga (selfless service)
  • 12:30pm – 4:40pm: hands-on workshop in the garden, punctuated by presentations and discussions
  • 6pm: Dinner (lacto vegetarian / sattvic diet)
  • 8pm: Satsang (group meditation, kirtan and mantra chanting, short lecture)

This daily schedule can be subject to occasional changes.

Arrival/Departure:

  • Check-in: 2pm-8pm, on first day. First event is 4pm yoga class on arrival day
  • Check-out: by 11am, on last day. Last event is an afternoon lecture on departure day

About the Teacher

Bhaskara (Jules Beyssac)

After several years of working on agro-ecological farms in France and abroad, Bhaskara took over the responsibility for the ashram’s microfarm. Bhaskara’s vocation is to transmit and share to bring more autonomy in agricultural practices and to develop our bond with nature.
